About The Ottawacoinman
Like most of you, my love of the hobby dates back to childhood when I carefully saved the dollars and cents [after carefully checking all the dates] made from my paper route, and fantasized about what coins I might buy. Every Saturday I would then be driven to the big city, Guelph, where I put up with the pain of music lessons for the privilege of walking to the coin store. The owner, Michael Woronka, would suffer my gazing through the glass display cases or display books for hours before finally announcing where my few bucks would be spent. My coin collection was however set aside for the more exciting endeavors of my high school and university years and thank God were not thrown out by my mother along with my hockey cards. When it came time to buy that ring and enter the years of responsibility, it was great, but still a bit painful, to trade in those silver dollars I had gathered and were selling for $30 each. [Thank you Bunker Hunt]
As I am now reaching retirement years and looking for ways to spend those wonderful hours of freedom, the "call of the coin" has returned with a new intensity. After playing around on eBay with some good and some not so good experiences, the concept of a website "by a collector for collectors" arose. On May 5, 2005, I launched my simple but serviceable first website. I'm now ready to provide collectors with the site I always wished for myself. One with a good selection of Canadian decimals as well as one with one of the largest selections around of my personal passion....tokens.
This website is simply about sharing the fun of the hobby with others. I like to get to know a bit about each of my customers so please take the time to introduce yourself.I hope you enjoy browsing around the site checking out coins and save yourself a few bucks in the process.
FINALLY, WE HOPE YOU MARK THIS AS YOUR FAVOURITE WEBSITE FOR BUYING AND SELLING CANADIAN COINS, CURRENCY AND TOKENS
Good Collecting,
David McLean
